Friday 8th May 2009

Thistle Hotel, on the Seafront in Brighton

Medical students from the new Brighton and Sussex Medical School are closely involved in the organisation of this meeting. They are very keen that we give the meeting a 'Brighton flavour'.

Subjects to be discussed will include the Night Club Culture (recreational drug use, women
and binge drinking, violence, risky sexual behaviour etc.) and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

Professor Shelia Hollins, past President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists will focus on problems in women doctors' careers and possible solutions as discussed in the CMO's Working Party on Women in Medicine (of which MWF is a part).

A new feature will be a DEBATE on the subject 'Are there too many women in medicine?'.
Speakers will come from all levels of the profession.

Winners of the Medical Student Essay Prize will present their essays.
