Medical students from the new Brighton and Sussex Medical School are closely
involved in the organisation of this meeting. They are very keen that we
give the meeting a 'Brighton flavour'.
Subjects to be discussed
will include the Night Club Culture (recreational drug use, women
and binge drinking, violence, risky sexual behaviour etc.) and Fetal Alcohol
Syndrome.
Professor Shelia Hollins, past President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists will focus on problems in women doctors' careers and possible solutions as discussed in the CMO's Working Party on Women in Medicine (of which MWF is a part).
A new feature will be a DEBATE
on the subject 'Are there too many women in medicine?'.
Speakers will come from all levels of the profession.
Winners of the Medical Student
Essay Prize will present their essays.
ABSTRACTS
(maximum 250 words) are invited on a subject of interest to women doctors,
related either to the theme of the conference, or to women’s health
issues in general, or to women doctors’ careers, for presentation or
a poster.

will be awarded to the best oral presentation
GROUP DISCUSSIONS will include
• Part-time training and working. EWTD, geographical
issues, inter-deanary transfers, maternity issues
• Workshop on Clinical Excellence Awards
• Health hazards associated with the recession
• Human Rights and how we can get involved
Annual General Meeting: The 92nd AGM of the Medical Women's Federation will be held at the Thistle Hotel Brighton, Kings Road, Brighton BN1 2GS on Saturday 9th May 2009, 9.30-1.00pm (open to all members)
